Los Angeles funk/rock band 100 Monkeys kicks off the TIFF Bell Lightbox celebration…

The Toronto International Film Festival takes over the city from Sept. 9 to 19, and as usual, there’ll be plenty of musical events held in conjunction with it.

The Sadies, Radio Radio, Karkwa, Twilight actor Jackson Rathbone’s 100 Monkeys and Fefe Dobson will perform at TIFF’s special Bell Lightbox Block Party on Sept. 12 to celebrate the opening of the new TIFF Bell Lightbox.

t’ll take over King Street West between John and Peter streets, and you’ll be able to get free cupcakes, cherry pie and ice cream, AND there’ll be a special surprise “international” Canadian act who’ll be announced the day before the event. The act will be introduced by CBC’s George Stroumboulopoulos.

27 Debuts From Around The World In TIFF’s Discovery Programme

Toronto –The Toronto International Film Festival continues to shine a light on the works of up-and-coming filmmakers with this year’s Discovery programme. A group of 27 titles make up the diverse Discovery selection, showcasing provocative feature films by new and emerging directors. As well, TIFF announces the addition of the World Premiere of Larysa Kondracki’s The Whistleblower to its line-up of Special Presentations.

“Twilight’s”Jackson Rathbone prepares to take a bite out of Hallmark’s ‘hoops’ when visiting the Platinum Publicity Gift Lounge Thursday, August 5 at the Magic Castle in L.A. The 9ft. walkabout versions of the animated hoops&yoyo online duo were giving out their most popular swag, including greeting cards with sound, in celebration of tonight’s Teen Choice Awards broadcast.

As Twi-hard fans anxiously await the next two movies in the saga, Twilight heartthrob Jackson Rathbone decided to make an appearance at Gifting Services’ Teen Choice Gift Suite.

Rathbone walked away with a variety of gifts including, spa treatments, upscale apparel, jewelry and accessories, high-class footwear, skin-care and tanning products, a vacation package, as well as vitamins and supplements.

The star had an enjoyable time at the suite, laughing and joking his way through the gift lounge.

“This was fun!” said Rathbone. “Surrounded by beautiful women giving me free things? I’m in paradise!”

Though Rathbone is known primarily as an actor, he is currently concentrating on his music career. His band, 100 Monkeys, has embarked on a summer tour, after which Rathbone will begin work on the “Breaking Dawn” films.
