Good article, but the photo caption calls the American Family Association an entity that "produces radio programs and other media to promote its Christian ideology."

All the Christians I know would avow that there is nothing Christian about the AFA. They are a hate group as affirmed by the Southern Poverty Law Center based on the AFA's "propagation of known falsehoods about LGBT people ... that have been thoroughly discredited by scientific authorities."

First let's take a look at what Brian Fischer says he wants:

Fischer says that business people, like bakers, should be able to operate according to their deeply held religious beliefs, even if that means refusing to serve someone in certain situations. The state should not, Fischer insists, mandate that a business treat its customers equally if that equal treatment (baking a cake for a same-sex couple as one would for an opposite-sex wedding, for example) conflicts with that person's religious conscience.

About the counter action, The AFA release, distributed in April, states that the "If You're Buying, We're Selling" initiative is a way to "bully, intimidate and demean Christians."

So...according to the AFA and Fischer, it's all right to refuse service to LGBT people, but it is not all right for other businesses to serve them. That would be bullying and strong-arm tactics. This attitude proves that it's not freedom of religion that is at the center of AFA's position. It's the freedom to make sure that LGBT people are denied service, period, not only by Christian business owners but by ALL business owners, even when they feel it is all right to serve LGBT people. The AFA and such right wing, so-called Christians want gay people to cease to exist...oh, I forgot, they already say that no one is "homosexual" but that only their behavior is homosexual. I wouldn't go so far as to say that no Christians are haters, pure and simple.
